For the 6th year, our favorite canines and circus artists transform The Vortex for the holidays with a fabulously fun show for All Ages. All shows are especially TODDLER FRIENDLY so bring those fidgety kids-they always love the show. “I couldn’t believe they paid attention through the whole hour,“ is a regular comment made by astounded parents.

Children’s Book Fair with Animal Book Characters

Meet children’s authors and favorite characters, enjoy story time, and discover great stories and books to take home! Peter Rabbit, Froggy and Ladybug Girl will all be there to meet, greet and take photos with their young visitors. All activities are free with regular admission to the Wildflower Center. The famous cattle-drive route that once stretched from near San Antonio to the railheads of Kansas crossed the property where Pioneer Farms sits today. On the 150th anniversary of the famous trail, this display replicates what Texans would have seen in the late 1860s -- just after the Civil War when the trail was first opened -- on a restored section of Blackland Prairie where genuine Longhorn cattle graze once again. Bow Wow Reading Events!
Lots of Austin Library locations and dates this month!
We love these events! Kids read stories to trained therapy dogs as a delightful way to improve reading and communication skills. Certified Austin Dog Alliance volunteer teams with trained therapy dogs will be waiting for kids to read stories to them.
Zoo Tots! January Theme: Super Senses

Join the Austin Zoo for Zoo Tots! These programs are designed for children and their adults to learn and explore together. Each month will feature a new theme. Ages: 2-5 years old
Price: $8 for one parent/guardian and child, $4 for a second child. (Non-members must also pay zoo admission.)
